A Cotswolds Destination Wedding at Sudeley Castle

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is meeting couples from all over the world who choose the English countryside for one of the biggest days of their lives. Hollins and Nick’s celebration was exactly that! A beautiful Cotswolds Destination wedding bringing together family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic for an unforgettable weekend.

Although the couple now live together in New York, Hollins is originally from Texas while Nick grew up here in the UK. With so many guests travelling from America, they wanted to create an experience that truly showcased everything people imagine when they picture an English destination wedding. Historic architecture, beautiful gardens, incredible food and a castle full of character.

There could hardly have been a more fitting venue than Sudeley Castle.

A Historic Chapel Ceremony

The day began with an intimate ceremony inside Sudeley Castle’s beautiful chapel. Steeped in history yet wonderfully romantic, it provided the perfect backdrop as family and friends watched the couple exchange vows after making the journey from across the world.

One of the things I love most about destination weddings is the atmosphere. Guests haven’t simply driven an hour down the road. They’ve taken time away from their lives, crossed continents and made a real adventure out of celebrating together. It creates such a special energy throughout the day.

Champagne in the Rose Garden

Following the ceremony, everyone made their way into the Rose Garden for an al fresco drinks reception beneath the summer sunshine.

Before the wedding, Hollins had one request she was particularly excited about.

She dreamed of capturing the drinks reception from above, with everyone mingling amongst the gardens and the castle providing the perfect backdrop. Using my drone, I was able to document the celebration from a completely different perspective. Showcasing not only the atmosphere but also the incredible scale and beauty of the venue. It’s one of those moments that simply can’t be appreciated from ground level and quickly became one of my favourite photos from the day.

Relaxed, Editorial Photography

For the rest of the wedding, I photographed the day exactly as I always aim to—with a relaxed editorial approach.

Rather than constantly directing, I prefer to let moments unfold naturally. Documenting genuine laughter, emotion and all the little interactions that make every wedding unique.

When portraits were needed, we kept everything effortless and timeless, allowing the architecture and gardens of Sudeley Castle to do much of the talking.

As the light softened into the evening, I incorporated subtle daylight flash where it enhanced the atmosphere, creating images with a modern editorial feel while still remaining true to the natural story of the day.

For the larger family and bridal party photographs, we also created a series of my signature Vanity Fair-inspired group portraits. Carefully composed yet still relaxed, these images have become one of my favourite ways to create something that feels cinematic, stylish and worthy of the pages of a magazine.

An Elegant Orangery Reception

Guests were welcomed into the Orangery for dinner. Where long tables, elegant florals and warm summer light created an effortlessly beautiful setting.

After heartfelt speeches celebrating two families becoming one, the evening celebrations moved inside the castle itself as the dance floor came alive.

Fireworks, Sparklers & The Perfect Ending

As darkness fell over the castle grounds, everyone gathered outside once more.

A spectacular fireworks display lit up the Cotswold sky before guests formed two glowing lines of sparklers. Giving Hollins and Nick the perfect send-off to end an unforgettable celebration.

It was the kind of wedding that perfectly captured everything I love about destination celebrations in England. Historic venues, incredible scenery, guests who fully embrace the experience, and a relaxed atmosphere where everyone is simply delighted to be together.
