A Destination Wedding Photographer’s Guide to Dubai

Posted in: Wedding Tips

When most people think of Dubai, they think of luxury hotels, skyscrapers and beach clubs. And yes, Dubai absolutely is all of those things. I have visited twice now! Once solo in February 2025, and again in February 2026 with my son during our homeschool and travel adventure. And now I’ve realised there’s so much more to the city than social media leads us to believe. Dubai has a soul, an energy and an aesthetic!

As a destination wedding photographer, Dubai has slowly become one of those places that keeps pulling me back in. The contrast of soft desert landscapes against ultra-modern architecture, the warm evenings, the vibe, the fashion, the food, the sheer scale of everything… it feels cinematic in the best possible way.

And honestly? I think Dubai makes an incredible wedding destination.

Why Dubai Works So Well For Destination Weddings

One of the biggest reasons I think Dubai is such an underrated wedding location is the weather.

If you’re planning a wedding between November and March, you’re almost guaranteed sunshine, warm evenings and clear skies. As a photographer who regularly shoots destination weddings in places like Italy, I’ve seen first hand how unpredictable European weather can be — even in peak summer. I’ve photographed weddings in torrential rain in places couples assumed would be guaranteed sunshine.

Dubai in winter gives you the luxury destination feel without the weather anxiety.

Think:

  • outdoor ceremonies in February
  • golden desert sunsets
  • beachside welcome parties
  • rooftop cocktail hours
  • warm evenings that don’t require heaters or umbrellas

For couples wanting a true wedding weekend experience, Dubai honestly has everything. This variety makes it perfect for multi day events! A rooftop rehearsal dinner with a city skyline, followed by a desert wedding ceremony, and perhaps capped off with a post-wedding beach club/ pool party.

My First Dubai Trip — February 2025

My first trip to Dubai was solo in February 2025, and I instantly understood why people become obsessed with the city.

Dubai feels glamorous, but also surprisingly peaceful in places. One moment you’re surrounded by futuristic skyscrapers and rooftop pools, and the next you’re driving into endless desert landscapes that feel almost meditative.

One of my favourite days started with brunch at Mott 32 — one of those classic Dubai experiences that somehow feels both elegant and lively at the same time. Afterwards I headed for rooftop drinks at Address Beach Resort, watching the skyline light up as the sun disappeared. Dubai really comes alive at night.

Another highlight was 305 Beach Club, which genuinely gave major Miami energy. Palm trees, pastel tones, beach loungers, cocktails, music — it felt like the kind of place that would make the dream setting for a chic welcome party or recovery brunch after a wedding.

I also completely fell in love with Hidden Café in the desert.

There’s something so beautiful about the stillness of the desert in Dubai. As someone whose dad used to live in Sudan, there’s actually a strange nostalgia I feel around parts of Arabic culture — the desert landscapes, the warm evenings, hibiscus juice, the hospitality. It feels familiar in a way I can’t fully explain.

The desert safari was another unforgettable experience. Endless dunes, camel rides, soft golden light… honestly a photographer’s dream. I can completely imagine why couples choose desert ceremonies in Dubai now.

The Wedding Potential Of Dubai

The more time I spend in Dubai, the more I notice how perfect it is for modern destination weddings.

You have:

  • ultra luxury city weddings
  • chic beach clubs
  • iconic skyline backdrops
  • intimate desert ceremonies
  • multi-day wedding weekends
  • incredible international food
  • luxury hotels designed for hosting guests

Some venues I think would make incredible wedding locations include:

One&Only Royal Mirage

One of the most beautiful luxury hotels in Dubai. The architecture, palm-lined pathways and beachfront setting feel incredibly elegant and timeless.

Al Maha Desert Resort

For couples wanting a luxury desert wedding experience, this is probably one of the dream venues in the UAE. The desert scenery here is unbelievable at sunset.

Hidden Café Desert Experiences

For couples wanting something more intimate and editorial, I actually think desert concepts inspired by Hidden Café could be incredible. Long table dinners in the dunes, candles, neutral styling, warm tones… it photographs beautifully.

Returning To Dubai In 2026 With My Son

This year’s trip felt completely different in the best way.

In February 2026, I returned to Dubai with my son as part of our homeschool and travel adventure. Watching Dubai through his eyes made me appreciate it even more.

We returned to some of my favourite places — including Hidden Café and Tagomago, where we spent the day paddleboarding and enjoying the beach club atmosphere. Tagomago is one of my favourite dinner spots in Dubai too; Spanish food by the beach with the skyline nearby feels like the perfect blend of relaxed and luxurious.

This trip we also finally went up the Burj Khalifa, visited the Museum of the Future, and spent a full day at Atlantis Waterpark — which Jasper declared his favourite trip ever.

And honestly, somewhere along the way, Dubai became one of my favourite destinations too. Now I’ve got it in my head that I should be a Dubai Wedding Photographer in the winter!

Why Dubai Inspires Me As A Photographer

As a destination wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to places with strong atmosphere and contrast. Dubai has both.

It can feel futuristic and luxurious, but also soft, calm and deeply beautiful.

The fashion scene is incredible. The hotels are visually stunning. The desert light is unreal. And culturally, Dubai feels so international — which I think naturally suits modern destination weddings.

Photographically, I love:

  • warm neutral architecture
  • reflective water and skyline views
  • editorial interiors
  • golden desert tones
  • chic beach clubs
  • fashion-forward couples
  • vibrant but true-to-colour imagery

My style has always leaned towards natural editorial photography — capturing genuine moments while still creating images that feel elevated, timeless and full of atmosphere. Dubai feels like a place where that style naturally belongs.

Planning A Destination Wedding In Dubai

If you’re considering Dubai for your wedding, my advice would be:

  • lean into the multi-day experience
  • embrace the contrast of city + desert
  • prioritise guest experience
  • plan around sunset whenever possible
  • don’t underestimate how beautiful the desert can be for portraits

Dubai isn’t just a luxury destination. It’s an experience.

And as someone who’s now explored it both solo and as a parent travelling the world with my son, it’s become a place that genuinely inspires me creatively every single time I return. If you’re looking for a Dubai wedding photographer, and you like my style, get in touch!
