Amalfi Coast Wedding Photographer

Posted in: Couple Shoot, Destination Wedding

And I’m back in Sorrento! Quickly becoming my most popular destination! This booking came through a recommendation from Sophisticated Weddings. A British planner based in Sorrento who I was lucky enough to meet at a previous wedding in Italy last year! And I’ll be back next year (maybe I should move to the Amalfi Coast as become a permanent Wedding Photographer there?).

Julia and Sam planned an intimate micro-wedding in Italy with just their parents as guests. Which gave me plenty of opportunity to spend alone time with couple. Since they didn’t have to worry about giving lots of guests their time and attention, we could take our time with couple portraits. As a rule, destination weddings tend to have a much later start time than in the UK. So it can be a bit of a rush getting all the photos before sunset. Since there were very few group photos, and they allocated time pre-ceremony for couple photos, we were able to prioritise the romantic portraits.

Sunset Boat Couple Shoot

As a pre-wedding experience we went out on a sunset boat trip. The best way to catch golden hour in Sorrento is to go out to sea. The direction of the sunset means the cliffs and hills often put the town and beaches in shade. But if you take a boat out, you can catch the perfect light!

The Wedding

The couple stayed at The Grand Royal, Sorrento. And that’s where we shot preparations, first look and even spent a bit of time doing couple photos around the hotel grounds before driving to the ceremony location. The Cloisters (Chiostro De San Francesco) is one of the most popular locations in Sorrento for ceremonies. And I can see why! The one slight downside is you can’t close the space to the public. So tourists will come watch.

After the ceremony we took a classic car around Sorrento and explore the streets for some final photos, before heading to the Mediterraneo for a wedding dinner.
