Amol + Sofia currently live and work in the U.S. but travel has always played a huge role in their lives. So it makes perfect sense that they would choose a destination wedding! Amol is from India. Sofia is from Sweden. And a lot of their friends and family are based in America! So no matter where they chose to get married, guests would inevitably have to travel. So why not just pick your dream chateau on the outskirts of Bordeaux?! Chateau Gassies was that perfect place. I’ve also worked at this Bordeaux chateau as wedding photographer before!
Indian Themed Pre-Wedding Dinner at Chateau Gassies
First, was the Indian rehearsal dinner. Sofia borrowed a dress from her soon to be sister in law! The guests also joined in with the theme. Even the Swedish and American guests dressed in Indian clothes, or at the very least vibrant dresses. We were blessed with a surprising sunset. The forecast was cloudy with threats of storm!
Bordeaux Wedding
Amol + Sofia decided to have a ‘first look’. And then read private personal vows, before walking into their ceremony together. The ceremony set up was underneath the shade of trees, just behind the chateau. It was still very hot even though it was a late ceremony (5pm). The guests then enjoyed oysters and champagne on the sunny terrace. Finally, they moved on the reception room for a sit down dinner, emotional speeches and wild dance floor.
I love photographing weddings at this venue. Chateau Gassies is so beautiful. With incredible views of Bordeaux. And so many spaces to choose from! The chandeliers in the main event room are perfect for shutter drag on the dancefloor, so I had a lot of fun playing with that!
