Destination weddings. Where to start? What I love about weddings abroad is that the celebration is more than just a day! Which is why I include a pre/post-wedding shoot in my destination wedding package. To make the most of the beautiful location you’ve chosen for this special day. And what an experience! Working as a wedding photographer in Portugal is a dream come true. I can now tick it off my bucket list!
Sonia & David chose to celebrate their love in Aveiro. As this was close to the coast, we chose Costa Nova beach for the couple shoot! Although we were unlucky with the sunset (or lack of), it was still the perfect backdrop. Soft dunes and crashing waves combined with the evening light.

The morning started in the Aveiro centre. This special town is like a Portuguese Venice, with colourful canals running through, which Sonia’s bridal prep room overlooks. Sonia then arrived at Casa De Abis on a horse-drawn carriage, as is tradition in Portugal! A day filled with fun, laughter and unique moments. From a choreographed first dance. To a bouquet with ribbons for the single ladies! Instead of the British bouquet toss, they tie ribbons on to the bridal bouquet and walk around in a circle as the bride cuts off ribbons (blindfolded). The girl holding the last ribbon is supposedly the next one to get married! Then the boys fight to catch a box so that they’re not the next one to get married. The celebrations also ended with a sparkler exit, waterfall fireworks lighting up the cake cutting and lots of dancing.
